Christmas Entertaining

Halloween and Thanksgiving are officially over and its finally appropriate to bring out the Christmas cheer! Nothing is more fun than bringing out the Christmas decorations and celebrating sweet time with family and friends. When planning for your holiday guests and entertaining consider some of these design strategies for a simplistic and elegant Christmas feel.

When decorating your tree, pick a color or theme and stick with it! A tree looks absolutely gorgeous covered in gold or silver; the contrast is just stunning!

Wrap a beautiful garland piece up your staircase railing for a grand entrance to the upstairs levels.

Add a beautiful, simplistic center piece to your dining or coffee table. You can include some inspired potpourri to bring in incredible scents to give you the Christmas spirit!

If you loved the elegant, white ambiance of our Thanksgiving decor than you're sure to love it for Christmas as well! The look is very wintery and makes you feel like you are surrounded by a blanket of snow no matter where you live.

Have some fun with your dinner table set! Bring in some natural pieces such as tree stump slices for place mats, and pine and cranberry as your flower arrangement.

It's Nap Time!

Here at the office lately we've been thinking how nice it would be if adults could get a daily afternoon nap like our kids do! Well lately a lot of modern businesses such as Google and Facebook have done a lot of research on this concept and have proven that having some alone, rest time during the day increases productivity and creativity in their employees! The designs they have incorporated are extremely fun, modern, and aim towards increasing those creative juices!

Our office manager, Kristy, even pointed out to us that researchers have also proven that drinking your cup of joe before your 20 minute power nap will heighten the impact of caffeine on the brain! Tell that to your boss next time you lay your head down on your desk.

We really need to get our office some of these comfy solutions so we can put this "coffee nap" concept to the test!

Virtual Reality: Taking Control of the Design World

Virtual reality has become a HUGE rising success in several fields! In the design world it opens up so much potential for our upcoming generations from 3-D building, to allowing your client to walk through their space before its created! The concept is something out of a futuristic movie and it is truly eye opening. Students are beginning to learn about the technology in schools and companies are jumping on the opportunity to include it in their design process.

Presenting design concepts and development to clients will become a much easier process because they will actually be able to see what the space will look like and walk through it rather than try to imagine it through flat images. Programs through VR also allow you to design on the spot. You can create 3-D objects and place them in a space simply with your hands! All the possibilities this offers designers is amazing!

One of the parade homes we staged last spring for Spain and Cooper Homes was pictured in a 360 degree walk through tour! We loved the turn out and thought it was a very unique way for clients to view the spaces online.

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall!

Summer is coming to an end as quickly as it began! It's time to turn in those bright blues and greens and bring out the stunning oranges, reds, and browns of fall. Fall decor can be so fun and beautiful to create in your home and exterior. My design style is all about being fun, chic, and beautiful and there are most definitely classy and elegant ways to represent the fall season without filling your home with jack-o-lanterns, skeletons, and flying bats (but honestly isn't that the best part!?)

We may have given in and added a cute jack-o-lantern into our office ;)

Decorating the mantel and fireplace is definitely a good go to place for your autumn takeover. The fireplace is warm and welcoming, and a perfect gathering space for the friends and family you are so thankful for! Repurpose old crates, window frames, and shutters to add a little something extra to those wreaths and flowers.

The formal dining room is also a must have decorated space. Keep your loved ones close this time of year surrounded by the beauty of fall and yummy food!! Green garlands and hydrangeas look beautiful with the hues of fall! You can easily head out to your backyard and clip some of the beautiful blooms nature has blessed you with to create this earthy look!

Fall colors not your thing? Incorporate whites and muted tones in place of the warm oranges and browns in order to get an extremely elegant and beautiful autumn look. I absolutely love this look and you might even love it enough to keep it year round!

Another fall favorite you can't miss out on is the pumpkin spice craze!! My team and I have definitely fallen into the trend of everything pumpkin spice- from Starbucks lattes to the delicious pumpkin cheesecake our designer Paola is cooking up for us! Oh how we love the fall!

Latest Project: Villa Bleu

One of our latest projects that we have completed is Villa Bleu!! Designing this house has most definitely been one of my favorite projects and the collaboration between the client and myself was so fun! My clients built their house and really wanted to make the spaces fun and unique! They are avid art collectors and only purchase original pieces so displaying their pieces was a key portion to the overall design. Everything about this house is beautiful with classic features, clean lines, and modernity. The home is full of a mix of custom furniture and decor including Chaddock, Bernhardt, Global Views, and Jaffe Rugs. We were very open to taking risks with this project and it resulted in a home full of energy!

See more of this project at our website under our residential projects tab!

I love the classic look black and white offers a space; those colors together with this beautiful grey in the entrance are absolutely gorgeous. The fun textures used in the chandelier, artwork, and rug really add a wow factor and amaze anyone who walks through the front door!

This art piece is my absolute favorite!! We placed it in almost every room of the house and couldn't decide which room she should go in; she looked beautiful everywhere!! I love the final decision of putting her in the foyer; she's one of the first things you'll see walking into the house.

This bathroom wall tile is so gorgeous, the picture doesn't even do it justice. When the light hits it it shimmers and gives the space a beautiful ambiance. The reflecting pattern on the shower glass pulls the elements together tremendously.

If I could describe her office in one word it would be FUN! The textures from the rug and plants are fantastic with the pops of pink and purple mixing in with the blues. Its elegant, modern, and so so beautiful.

I LOVE this kitchen! It has absolutely everything you'd ever want and need for your kitchen. There are two prep areas with two sinks-perfect for entertaining. The room is very spacious and has a lot of storage. The countertops are one of the most beautiful granite selections I've seen: Python. The textures and patterns within the pieces are jaw-dropping!

This mirror from Global Views is another one of my favorite pieces! Its large and demands attention, taking control of the space. The sculpture is super fun and unique as well!

This gallery space was designed to showcase their art collection. I'm in love with the open tread staircase; it makes the space feel so much more open and inviting. Similarly, all of the art is so beautiful it was hard to decide what to showcase!

The paneling on the walls of the master bedroom entrance with the beautiful glass panels give you a feeling of glamour before you even walk into the room. The hide and reveal elements make the space exciting, and the custom bedding ties the design together.

The dining furniture here is from Chaddock Furniture and the lighting is from Chrystorama- so beautiful! The view to the outdoor pool and coy pond makes the space feel luxurious and brings in a lot of natural light.

Sherwin Williams 2017 Color of the Year!

Sherwin Williams has introduced its color of the year for 2017: Poised Taupe SW 6039! This beautiful color is a combination of earthen brown with conservative grey to produce a weathered, woodsy, and complex neutral. The color makes a space feel cozy and lived in, making it perfect for any space in your home!

I love Poised Taupe because it is simply elegant and works well with both neutral combinations and pops of color. Your space will feel much more warm and welcoming with a touch of this color added into it; I can't wait to play with the possibilities it has to offer!

I absolutely adore this look with classic black and white! The combination of these colors make the space feel elegant and warm. Black and white never fail to bring out some personality in a space!

Using other warm colors in this space are so fun and beautiful! This space reminds me of a fun, family home and it feels so earthy. Using greens and oranges in the color palate really bring out some purple undertones in the space; I love it!

Newest Statement Piece? Mirrors!

Statement mirrors are taking control of the bathroom and family room! Mirrors in general are great for making a space look bigger; now using them as a focal point in your space will not only make it look bigger but will also add a new pop of color and style. Ditch the bathroom medicine cabinets and trade them for a wood-framed beauty or vintage gem that will give your space that necessary boost!
